Weekend, Books, and random thoughts

I had a pretty great weekend. Yesterday I went to my friends Libby and Jeff's house for a football party. I'm not usually a football fan, but this year the New Orleans Saints are headed for the Superbowl! I am a HUGE fan of New Orleans, as a city. The food, music, scenery, everything. That's where I'm getting married in May. So, it was a very happy day yesterday when the Saints tromped the Vikings in overtime. GO SAINTS!

Other than that, I watched a bunch of movies, including Sliding Doors and Shakespeare in Love. I really like curling up on the sofa to watch movies. It's one of my favorite things. I also played with my niece Eloise a lot on Saturday, and started a book I really like called Dairy Queen too. All in all, it was a nice couple of days.

What I'm Reading

I'm reading a book called Party. It's about, well, a party. Duh.

Really it's about a whole bunch of different kids who go to the same high school and are all planning to go to this huge, crazy party where everyone will be. Each chapter is told be a different person. There's the guy who just got dumped, the girl who dumped him, the football star, the loner, the boy who's in love with the loner, the skater, the meat head, and so on. It's a little derivative of a teen movie formula that's been around for a long time (think The Breakfast Club or She's All That). Nevertheless, it's a pretty good read. I certainly think that you guys would like it, since it gives a pretty realistic glimpse into what high school life can be like for some people.

A+ : You Know You Want One!

Here is an example of a real-life A+ blog entry for the required Week 2 blog post. Why, you ask? Well, because this person clearly took the time to search the library and learn about the books he was recommending, even if they were not books he has read himself. He used the CATALOG people! Amazing.

Diaries
Dear 8th grader,I have three diaries that is formatted into a book. The first diary is called "Party Princess." It's about a fifteen year old girl named Mia that tries to figure out how to raise money for the bankrupt student government at her school. While, also worrying about how to be a party girl. The next book is called "Vampire Diaries". It's about two vampire brothers named Damen and Stefan find their bond torn apart by a woman who they both love and tragedies of their past. And the last book is called "Princess in the brink" it's about how Princess Mia's junior year in high school starts off with a difficult course load, a crazy student council race, Grandmere's search for temporary lodging, and the news that her boyfriend is moving to Japan next year. To find out where there is more books about diaries then you should go on the library catalog and look it up.

Finally I Found a Book to Read2

I have been in a major reading slump! I've started lots of books that I didn't want to finish, which drives me crazy. I hate not finishing a book, even though I always stop reading if I'm not enjoying myself. Sometimes it's really, really hard to find what you're in the mood for, and lately I haven't been in the mood for anything!

So I am relieved to say that I finally found a book I want to read. Hallelujah! And I can thank Michelle (former student librarian, now working in the deans' office). She loves this book and has tried to get me to read it for months, but I've never been in the mood. Now, it's the perfect choice. I've only read a page or two and already I'm hooked. I won't say more until I've finished, and I don't think that'll be too long from now.

Thanks Michelle.
